Tim Newbound

Principal Scientist & Co-Founder

Timothy D. Newbound, Ph.D., is a founding member and Principal Scientist at Paraclete Energy, where he is responsible for the technical foundations underlying the company’s silicon anode products. His work centers on applied chemistry and materials science, with an emphasis on lithium battery materials that can survive scale-up, manufacturing constraints, and downstream integration. At Paraclete, he has contributed directly to product definition, architecture and composition development for SILO Silicon™, and the generation of supporting intellectual property, working across laboratory research, process development, and early manufacturing realities.

Prior to Paraclete, Tim worked with Saudi Aramco for eighteen years, where he ultimately served as Team Leader for Natural Gas (NG) R&D Projects. In that role, he defined Corporate focus areas for research programs to address NG pipeline corrosion control, NG condition monitoring, NG quality, upgrading, distribution and storage. His work was recognized internally and industry-wide with the issuance of multiple U.S. patents with corresponding international filings and as author of journal publications with impact on NG pipeline operations, safety, reliability, and cost savings.

Tim holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, with published work in organometallic and inorganic synthesis. His training includes nanomaterials development, handling of air- and moisture-sensitive materials, and spectral analysis. These tools have been applied to in service failure analysis, evaluating technical feasibility of materials formulations, process scaleup, variability and quality assurance.
