Anton B. Kornberg, Ph.D.

Director of Research

Anton B. Kornberg serves as Director of Research at Paraclete Energy, where he leads battery materials R&D focused on silicon-based anodes. As Principal Investigator for the group’s technical programs, he designs and evaluates composite material systems intended to maintain performance through the cyclic volumetric expansion that occurs during silicon lithiation.

Anton brings 27 years of research and development experience in composite materials—systems that integrate components of different natures to achieve combinations of characteristics that would otherwise be unattainable. An example of this system is a composite material that integrates competing properties such as elasticity and electrical conductivity.

Anton joined Paraclete Energy in 2021 as a Senior Scientist and was promoted to Director of Research in 2024. Prior to this position, Anton held various research and product development roles within both industrial and applied research organizations, including the McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (Centre for Advanced Polymer Processing & Design), Renault Group (Department of Materials and Coatings), and the Institute of Physics (Nanostructures Laboratory).

He earned his Ph.D. from McMaster University, where his dissertation centered on co-continuous networks formed via in-situ polymerization. His research highlighted the advancement of nanostructured composite materials that are both flexible and electrically conductive, specifically for lithium-ion battery applications.
